Depression Bible Verses
Deuteronomy 31:8
Do not be afraid or discouraged,
for the LORD will personally go ahead of you.
He will be with you; he will neither
fail you nor abandon you.
Psalm 3:3
But you, O LORD, are a shield around me;
you are my glory, the one
who holds my head high.
Psalm 34:15-17
The eyes of the LORD watch over
those who do right;
his ears are open to their cries for help.
But the LORD turns his face
against those who do evil;
he will erase their memory from the earth.
The LORD hears his people when they
call to him for help.
He rescues them from all their troubles.
Psalm 40:1-3
I waited patiently for the LORD to help me,
and he turned to me and heard my cry.
He lifted me out of the pit of despair,
out of the mud and the mire.
He set my feet on solid ground
and steadied me as I walked along.
He has given me a new song to sing,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see what he has done and be amazed.
They will put their trust in the LORD.
Psalm 42:5
Why am I discouraged?
Why is my heart so sad?
I will put my hope in God!
I will praise him again—
my Savior and my God!
Psalm 42:6-11
Now I am deeply discouraged,
but I will remember you—
even from distant Mount Hermon,
the source of the Jordan,
from the land of Mount Mizar.
I hear the tumult of the raging seas
as your waves and surging
tides sweep over me.
But each day the LORD pours
his unfailing love upon me,
and through each night I sing his songs,
praying to God who gives me life.
“O God my rock,” I cry,
“Why have you forgotten me?
Why must I wander around in grief,
oppressed by my enemies?”
Their taunts break my bones.
They scoff, “Where is this God of yours?”
Why am I discouraged?
Why is my heart so sad?
I will put my hope in God!
I will praise him again—
my Savior and my God!
Psalm 77:1-2
I cry out to God; yes, I shout.
Oh, that God would listen to me!
When I was in deep trouble,
I searched for the Lord.
All night long I prayed, with
hands lifted toward heaven,
but my soul was not comforted.
Psalm 91:14-16
The LORD says, “I will rescue those who love me.
I will protect those who trust in my name.
When they call on me, I will answer;
I will be with them in trouble.
I will rescue and honor them.
I will reward them with a long life
and give them my salvation.”
Isaiah 54:4
Fear not; you will no longer live in shame.
Don’t be afraid; there is
no more disgrace for you.
You will no longer remember
the shame of your youth
and the sorrows of widowhood.
Isaiah 60:1
Arise, Jerusalem! Let your light
shine for all to see.
For the glory of the LORD
rises to shine on you.
2 Corinthians 7:6
But God, who encourages those who
are discouraged, encouraged us by the arrival of Titus.
1 Peter 5:6-7
So humble yourselves under the mighty
power of God, and at the right time he will
lift you up in honor. Give all your worries and
cares to God, for he cares about you.
