The Power of Words Bible Verses
May the words of my mouth
and the meditation of my heart
be pleasing to you,
O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.
Then keep your tongue from speaking evil
and your lips from telling lies!
Take control of what I say, O Lord,
and guard my lips.
The words of the godly are
a life-giving fountain;
the words of the wicked conceal violent intentions.
The mouth of the godly person gives wise advice,
but the tongue that deceives will be cut off.
Those who control their tongue will have a long life;
opening your mouth can ruin everything.
A gentle answer deflects anger,
but harsh words make tempers flare.
Everyone enjoys a fitting reply;
it is wonderful to say the right
thing at the right time!
From a wise mind comes wise speech;
the words of the wise are persuasive.
The tongue can bring death or life;
those who love to talk will reap the consequences.
Timely advice is lovely,
like golden apples in a silver basket.
The Sovereign Lord has given me
his words of wisdom,
so that I know how to comfort the weary.
Morning by morning he wakens me
and opens my understanding to his will.
You brood of snakes! How could evil men
like you speak what is good and right?
For whatever is in your heart determines what you say.
A good person produces good things from the
treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces
evil things from the treasury of an evil heart.
And I tell you this, you must give an account on
judgment day for every idle word you speak. The
words you say will either acquit you or condemn you.
Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you
say be good and helpful, so that your words will
be an encouragement to those who hear them.
1 Peter 3:10
For the Scriptures say,
“If you want to enjoy life
and see many happy days,
keep your tongue from speaking evil
and your lips from telling lies.
