Be very careful never to make a treaty with
the people who live in the land where you are
going. If you do, you will follow
their evil ways and be trapped.
Oh, the joys of those who do not
follow the advice of the wicked,
or stand around with sinners,
or join in with mockers.
Joyful are those who obey his laws
and search for him with all their hearts.
They do not compromise with evil,
and they walk only in his paths.
If the godly give in to the wicked,
it’s like polluting a fountain or muddying a spring.
Gazing intently at the high council, Paul began:
“Brothers, I have always lived before
God with a clear conscience!”
1 Timothy 3:9
They must be committed to the mystery of the
faith now revealed and must live with a clear conscience.
He chose to share the oppression of God’s
people instead of enjoying the fleeting pleasures of sin.
1 Peter 2:9
But you are not like that, for you are a chosen
people. You are royal priests, a holy nation,
God’s very own possession. As a result, you can
show others the goodness of God, for he called you
out of the darkness into his wonderful light.
